MATCH REPORT: Chaddy Exit Vase After South Liverpool Defeat

Unfortunately, we were not able to reverse our fortunes and return to winning ways as we exit the Isuzu FA Vase after a 2-0 defeat in Liverpool.

Goals in both halves won it for South Liverpool. The first coming directly from a corner in the 24^th minute, before their lead was doubled via Happi-Fankam.

It was however a positive start for us up until the hosts opening goal, Matthew Crothers hitting a freekick over the bar and another chance coming when Jacob Ngoy fizzed one across the South Liverpool goal, but Muis Bibire Bello was just inches away from turning the ball in to give us the lead.

We continued to fight for an equaliser, with the pick of our chances coming from a long-range effort by Rob Fynn, narrowly flying past the left post. However, South Liverpool went onto double their lead, resulting in the end of our FA Vase campaign.

Assistant Manager, Mark Cook spoke to us about the game, having the following to say about the contest:

"We had a strong start, controlling possession and nearly opening the scoring after a well-placed cross that Muis [Bibire-Bello] was just unable to connect with. Unfortunately, we conceded off a corner against the run of play, with the final contact appearing to come off James, resulting in an own goal.

In the second half, we maintained control of the ball, but weren’t as threatening as we’d hoped. The game shifted dramatically when Rob Flynn was sent off. He was attempting to restart play quickly by retrieving the ball near the South Liverpool dugout, but received a second yellow card in the process. Carl [Taylor] was also booked for disputing the decision—a decision we found extremely disappointing.

Even with ten men, we continued to dominate possession. Matty Barlow came close to equalising, but a misplaced pass from the back led to another goal against us. Despite this setback, the team kept pushing, with Rob [Worall] hitting the post and creating a few more close chances. However, it just wasn’t our day, and the final result did not reflect the overall balance of play. A disappointing outcome given our performance."

Our focus now shifts back to the league, where we will face South Liverpool once again, where we will hope to get revenge for yesterday’s result.
