We return to nwcfl Premier Division action this weekend as we welcome Charnock Richard to our brand-new stadium. It will be the first league game played since moving into our new home and we are extremely hungry to start this new era off with a victory.
It has been an extremely exciting summer for everybody involved here, from moving stadium, to new signings to our new home’s food going viral on social media. We look to carry this feel-good factor and excitement into the 2025/26 season.
Manager, Carl Taylor shares this excitement, he told us, “It’s good to be finally getting back to league action after a tough Pre-season that has seen a lot of new faces come to the club and a few old faces move on to pastures new. Our new look squad has some very talented lads in and they are all buying in to what we are trying to achieve on and off the pitch to have a successful season at this football club. We are all looking forward to the start of the season back at our newly named Emplas Commercial North Stadium in what will hopefully be an exciting season for everyone involved at the club now we are back home.”
Our incomings this summer have improved the squad, and we hope they help us improve upon our league position last season as we strive towards promotion. Our most recent addition being Ryan Shenton, signing just under a week ago.
There is one of our signings who our fans will already be very familiar with. The return of goal scorer and fan favourite, Lewis Byrne. There is no doubting that our season was affected heavily by Lewis’s departure to Bury in January, where he would go on to play a part in their league winning season. We are beyond delighted to have Lewis back with us and look forward to seeing him back in a red shirt this season.
However, we are aware of the threat that tomorrow’s opponents bring. Charnock Richard finished in 12th place last season on 64 points, showing that they are a capable side. We are sure that they have been hard at work during their pre-season preparations just as we have.
We last faced our visitors back in January, at their home ground. They were the better team on that occasion, defeating us 3-2 in a well-fought affair.
We hope for a game on the same level of entertainment tomorrow, but perhaps a more positive result on our part.
