Everyone at Chadderton Football Club has been extremely saddened by the recent passing of our friend and colleague, Dale Harris. This is a huge loss to the football club; Dale was always a warm and approachable figure for anybody involved with our club.
Tomorrow will be an opportunity to pay tribute to Dale; a special programme will be available to buy on matchday that will include tributes to Dale from many people involved with the club. All proceeds will be donated to Dale’s family, to support them in this incredibly difficult time.
Club chairman, Bob Sopel will read a tribute to Dale prior to tomorrow’s kick-off, this will be followed by a minute long applause.
Whilst it is difficult to focus on football during this saddening period, we are excited to return to action in front of a home crowd tomorrow. The FA Vase is a competition rich in history and one that we as a football club always anticipate participating in.
We have earned our way to the fourth round of the competition following wins over Eccleshill United, Redcar Town and a penalty shootout victory over Burscough. This already makes us more successful in this competition than we were last season where we were eliminated in the second round by South Liverpool following a famous penalty shootout win against Bury.
Due to a series of circumstances out of our control, this is our first fixture since boxing day, where we were defeated as we hosted Prestwich Heys. We look to return to form this weekend against North Shields.
Our opponents currently sit seventh in the Northern League Division One. They beat Liversedge on penalties following a 1-1 draw. North Shields have also not played since boxing day where they were victorious on the road at Whitley Bay.
We hope to have your full support tomorrow on what will be an extremely emotional day as we aim to give Dale the send off which he deserves.
