MATCH PREVIEW: Chaddy prepare for Charnock Richard clash

Written by Jacob Jones.

We have little time to dwell over the disappointment of Tuesday nights 2-0 away loss to inform, playoff pushing Padiham as our attention swiftly turns to Charnock Richard who we will face on our travels, this Saturday.

Recent results have seen us drop to fourth in The North West Counties Football League Premier Division, but we remain only six points away from top of the league, Ramsbottom United, speaking volumes for how competitive the league is this season.

We were left frustrated with our loss to Padiham, especially following on from such an inspiring performance and fantastic result at home to St Helens in the previous game with only ten men.

The transfer window remains open, a window that has seen beloved names such as Lewis Byrne leave the club, but also new faces join the Chaddy family, such as a returning Rob Latham, and talented youngster Harry Lynn on loan from Radcliffe FC.

We had the chance to speak with Harry, where he informed us about his start to life here, including a fantastic impact in his debut against St Helens.

He told us, “I’m thrilled to have joined Chadderton on loan until the end of the season. After a frustrating first half of the campaign, this move has provided the fresh start I needed. The lads and coaching staff have been incredibly welcoming, which has made settling in far easier than I expected. My focus while I'm here is to earn as many minutes as possible and help secure a play-off spot – this group is more than capable of achieving promotion. I’ve come on as a substitute a couple times now and made a real impact, particularly against St Helens, where I contributed with a goal and an assist. Looking forward to adding more goal contributions and winning as many games as possible.”

As for Saturday’s hosts, Charnock Richard, they currently sit 12th in The Northwest Counties Football League Premier Division, having lost last 3-2 to top of the league Ramsbottom United last time out. They are without a win since the beginning of the month; however, they have given very good accounts of themselves against two very capable sides in Ramsbottom and AFC Liverpool.

Last time we faced Charnock was back in October of last year, where we came away with a 3-1 victory, but we are not taking previous results into contention and expect a tough challenge come Saturday afternoon.

We hope to get back to winning ways and keep the pressure on the top teams in this league as we head towards the business end of the 2024/25 season.
