There’s no rest for the wicked as we quickly turn our attention from Friday’s game to our next fixture, a short trip down the road to Stockport. We come of the back of two defeats, but we are hungry to get back to winning ways.
Friday’s loss to FC St Helens was a frustrating one, we were unable to find the back of the net despite coming close on multiple occasions. Morgan Bacon’s penalty save, despite being spectacular was not enough to spur us on to get the equaliser.
Morgan told us “Playing on Monday night is a good thing for us to put the last two results behind us and focus on bouncing back as soon as possible, we had plenty of chances to win on Friday but unfortunately we couldn’t take our chances.”
Despite our last two results, we still sit 2nd in the NWCFL Premier Division, we are also still 4th in the leagues form table.
Our opponents, Stockport Town currently sit in 10th position. Their last result was a 2-1 win away at inform Irlam last Saturday, with Keane Barugh and Kai Johnston getting the goals.
Stockport’s Jack Atkinson described their start to the season as “a good start to the season with some good wins,” he went on to add “we’ve dropped points in games that we should be coming away from with three points but that’s the same for all teams in the league.”
Last time we faced Stockport, we went onto win 2-0 back in September. We expect a very tough challenge tomorrow but certainly hope for a repeat of last time’s result as we look to close the gap on the top of the table.
