Following on from an enthralling 4-3 win against Bury at Gigg Lane on Monday night in the Macron Cup, we turn our attention back to the league, in which we currently sit 3rd in the nwcfl premier division. Next up for us is Prestwich Heys AFC.
When asked about Monday night’s game, match winner Robert Flynn told us “Our first half performance was below par from the standards we have set this season, this continued into the early stages of the second half.” He went on to add, “I popped up yet again with a peach - potentially goal of the season,” and we could not agree more.
But we must now ride the highs of the comeback win in the cup. Last time out in the league, we played out yet another classic away at South Liverpool, ending in a extraordinary 6-4 scoreline - so we find ourselves in some form at the moment.
Something to note is that our managers Carl & Ben will have a bit of a selection headache heading into this fixture, with substitutes playing such a huge role in Monday night’s win, certainly putting their names into the managers' minds for the starting eleven this weekend.
As for our opponents, they currently sit bottom of the league table on nine points. However, last time out they gave us a tough challenge, ending in a narrow 5-3 victory on the road for ourselves.
Prestwich Heys are coming off the back of a 4-1 defeat to Cheadle Town last weekend, so we are sure they will be hungry to reverse their fortunes when they face us. Assistant manager, Luke Seisay said “It’s been a busy few weeks with ins and outs for us, which was always expected due to the position we’re in.”
We expect a hungry opposition in potentially very testing conditions once again, but we are excited to get back to league action.
