MATCH REPORT: Chaddy Lose to Longridge at home

Written by Jacob Jones

We were disappointed to fall short on Saturday at home to Longridge Town. It was a dramatic afternoon, full of drama, questionable refereeing decisions and a late goal just to top it off.

The visitors started quite well, having the better of the chances in the first ten minutes. A dangerous freekick being awarded in the early stages as well as a shot that went just wide of Dale Latham.

The rest of the half was played at a lower tempo than we would have preferred, but the base of play was relatively even going into the half-time break.

A game of two halves can be used to describe this game, as the second half was extremely action packed from beginning to end. Brad Ditch was unfortunately injured early in the second half, being replaced by Jack Worrall.

Wisdom Bernard put us ahead 67 minutes into the game, a very good ball, headed across by Schofield was redirected in by Wisdom Bernard, a goal that was very well deserved after Wisdom’s efforts during the game.

Unfortunately, our lead did not last for long as Longridge equalised around five minutes later, an unbelievable strike from Rio Alston that Dale Latham in goal could do absolutely nothing about.

Following the equaliser, chances came about for both sides, but we were dealt a massive blow when Rob Flynn was sent off, leaving us with ten men for the remainder of the game.

The visitors would use this to their advantage as Anderton painfully put Longridge ahead in the 90th minute, leaving us little time to respond.

Our chances of getting back into the game were further made difficult when Muis Bibre Bello was also sent off, meaning we had to play the remainder of the match with only nine men, making it almost impossible for our lads to rescue anything.

We are extremely disappointed to have lost at home, but we have a massive game coming up against Irlam on Friday, who we previously played in the semi-finals of the Manchester Premier Cup.
