Yesterday saw us partake in yet another successful clash, this time against Glossop North End. Lewis Byrne once again found himself on the scoresheet, accompanied by Matty Crothers and Rob Worrall in a 4-2 victory.
As first halves go, this one was close to perfect, with four goals in the first forty-five. Lewis Byrne was the first to slot one away in the early stages of the game to give us the advantage.
This lead was later doubled by a majestic Matty Crothers goal, scoring all the way from the halfway line. Crothers noticed the North End goalkeeper off his line and lofted the ball over his head from an obscene distance.
Although we were brought back down to earth momentarily as Glossop managed to pull one back just before the half an hour mark.
However, the inevitable Lewis Byrne re-established our two-goal advantage just minutes later with an incredibly composed finish one on one against the goalkeeper. We were not done there either, Rob Worrall with a fantastic goal before the break to make it four, beating his man on the edge of the box and finishing with the outside of his boot.
Going into the second half, we began to attack towards the way of the vicious wind, but that did not phase us. We knew our job in this half, to ensure that the game stays in our hands and despite conceding a 67th minute goal to the visitors, we were able to achieve this.
So, another fantastic three points for us as we continue to chase that top spot, but there is no time to dwell on this victory as we are back in action on Wednesday against Litherland REMCYA away.
