Following a break from football for us last week, we return to action as we host 2023/24 Macron Cup Champions Barnoldswick Town FC at the Vestacare Stadium this afternoon.
We look to reverse our poor form from before last week’s break, currently we are without a win in our last six, but last time out it was an enthralling home affair against South Liverpool. Ethan Sutcliffe was able to grab a late equaliser in crunch time, ending the match 3-3.
It has been a busy week off the field, we have announced three signings this week in the hopes to improve our squad going into the end of the season.
First of all, we signed Bradley Sullivan from Prestwich Heys. Brad is a versatile player, as he proved in his time at Prestwich Heys, playing a variety of positions. This is an attribute that we hope will prove beneficial for us moving forwards.
We’d also like to extend our welcome back messages to Krisel Prifti. The Albanian winger signs from Daisy Hill. We are all very excited to have him back playing his football in Chaddy colours.
Finally, we welcome talented forward, Kuda Chingwaro from Charnock Richard. So far, Kuda has ten league goals this season, and we hope he can add to this whilst wearing a Chadderton shirt.
As for Saturday’s opponent, Barnoldswick Town currently find themselves 15th in the NWCFL Premier Division, with 55 points. They are currently in fairly poor to average form, having one win, three draws, and two losses from their last six games, having scored six and conceding eight in these fixtures.
Last time out in particular, Barlick hosted mid-table Abbey Hey, who are currently in incredibly form themselves. Regardless, Barlick were able to hold firm and share the points, with the game ending in a 2-2 draw, with goals from William Procter and Oliver Roberts.
Procter and Roberts have been a formidable pair this season, with 21 and 13 goals respectively. It is safe to say that they will be opponents to keep an eye on for us.
Our previous meeting with Barlick was all the way back in August - right back in the opening few weeks of the season. On that day we came out fairly comfortable winners, with a full time result of 4-0 to Chaddy, with goals from Crothers, Sutcliffe, and Dale. We are looking forward to going up against Barlick once again, and we are also looking forward to welcoming everyone for what should be a brilliant afternoon of football at the Vestacare Stadium!
